DDAY June 6 1944 72 years ago today

72 years ago today was D-day, a day that would see a lot of young Canadian troops pay the ultimate sacrifice with the landings in Normandy, France.  Its sad to think that at the same time that I am writing this, that we also reported on two separate events that were in support of our troops were cancelled due to economic conditions it was said.

Can you see the irony in this?

72 years ago and many years prior to the landings the Country had 1 goal and purpose, and that was to support the liberty of Europe and its people, never before did our Country mobilize and come together to keep this world a free place.

Now here we are and we cant even support our troops for these events that had to be cancelled.

But then again maybe its just certain areas in our Country are bigger supporters than others?

Today in Ontario the Highway of Heroes Ride netted our foundation $ 3,000.00 from merchandise sales, this money will be put towards the park we are building in honour of Sgt. Shawn Eades.

Not that this is a resounding success in getting funding for the park either, we have constantly put the word out to our over 150,000 followers and the pleas have fallen on deaf ears, with only about 20 people stepping up.

In total Canada has 47,566 soldiers buried in France’s soil.

Take some time today and visit the local cenotaph/memorial in your area and pay your respects….please…it wont cost you anything.
