Good afternoon. I have an idea that I would love to see happen and you may be the group to help me with it. How many vets are sitting in nursing homes near all of us that can’t get out to services for health reasons. So if all of us visit one home take just an hour out of our remembrance day and spend it with those who can’t get out. We could make so many vets day. I bring this up because we ourselves are signing a world war 2 vet out this remembrance day to bring him to the service my husband will be in. I didn’t realize that this until my daughter brought it to my attention. She works in a nursing home and explained to me that only some homes provide transportation for these vets to get to services and not all legions have transportation to get the vets to their services. Most legions rely on the volunteers to do this but if they don’t have wheelchair accessible vans they can’t take some and some others can’t go because of medical issues. I understand the legalities but how can we make a vets day any better than going to visit them where they are. What do you think?
Mandy You and your daughter should be Proud of this Idea lets hope we can get the word out and leave no vet alone on their day.
