The Prime Minister has declared May 9th as a ” National Day of Honour by Royal Proclamation” to recognize and commemorate Canada’s military mission in Afghanistan. There are events in Ottawa that are being planned along with certain other cities by the government it has been announced. I know that a lot of the families of the fallen will be travelling to Ottawa for events that are happening there. The question that a lot have asked me is what can we do? Ordinary Canadians want to do something, but what? Well here is what I am going to do, and I encourage ALL Canadians to start talking amongst themselves in their Cities, towns, and hamlets across Canada. First off, I am going to invite and recognize ALL Canadians that served in Afghanistan, Civilians and active members. I will also include ALL family members as well, and will especially be honouring those that have lost loved ones. Here in Hamilton, we will do a special #redfriday waterfall illumination, and also I am looking at doing HMCS Haida in red as well. There will a a tour offered of Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum for those visiting from out of town also. And of course as this is also a way to say thank you a good ole party to wrap up the days festivities. Were ever you are in Canada, either join us here in Hamilton, or start planning something yourself, and when you do please tell me about it so we can broadcast it on all my social media outlets and websites. Lets get Yellow Ribbons on every street pole and tree across this country of ours, and lets all get our flag and fly it proudly. My 40 foot Canadian Flag will be flying proudly some were here in Hamilton. …read more
