Rod and I had another incredible day. We joined the Gillam family and friends for their 5th annual Mark Rock Hike in memory of Sgt. Craig Gillam.
As we hiked the trail to the top of the mountain (2700 feet and a 90 minute hike up), we tied yellow ribbons each with the name of a fallen soldier. Once we got to the top, each person (41) placed a rock onto the Mark Rock. There is a memorial at the top as Craig had flown over this spot on his way to Afghanistan. Each person also released a yellow balloon. After we hiked down the mountain, we went to the Gillam homestead for a luncheon. Rod and I were very honoured to participate in this event.

Later we met the grandparents of fallen soldier Kenneth Chad O’Quinn. We then stopped at the home of Ben and Helen Brake who have a son in the military and their daughter-in-law is currently serving in Afghanistan.
