Six years ago today we lost Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent.
Warrant Officer Vincent was killed while on duty on October 20, 2014, in a deliberate hit-and-run incident in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.
This was received from the family today, August 20, 2020.
………”Thank you Canadian Heroes to keep Patrice’s memory alive.
For us the family, this is soooo important! The worst is to see notes on his death on the 22nd… he died on the 20th… in St Jean sur Richelieu, as he was accompanying another military to help him sign his army retirement papers… He was proudly wearing his military clothes, which made him the perfect target…
Patrice was very focused on his military career, always putting it over and above his own needs. This is the reason he never engaged in a marriage: he was married to his career… this fact made the medias feel left out as they had nothing tangible to report to the public… sadly.
Only a few weeks before his death, he had finally decided on what courses he wanted to take at time of his retirement, the following May: he wanted to learn sculpture, especially metal… I remember as he confided to me his hope to represent something coming alive in his hands…
As we want to keep his memory alive, it would be great if you could put a little note on where you met him, worked with him, maybe with a photo of your activities together! This helps transform the pain and sadness into joy to see him happy to do what he LOVED!
Be sure all your messages are read by the family! Thank you!!!………”
Merci tellement!………”
